My Li’l Bro’s Wedding

How fast time flies. I can still remember how i craddle my youngest brother to sleep when he was a baby. How i used to wake up at night to either change his diapers or make him a bottle of milk everytime my mom had night shift in the hospital where she’s working. That was 29 years ago now. Then finally, yesterday, he married his sweetheart who has been his girlfriend for 8 years.

That was an occassion full of emotions. Considering that my dad is seriously ill, we were all worried if he could withstand the torture of alternately sitting and standing in the church and being at the wedding reception for at least 4 hours without falling asleep or feeling weak. Nowadays, my dad couldn’t sit longer than 30 minutes because of his rectum c. Inspite of his being weak, he promised my brother to walk him to the altar on his wedding day. He really did everything to feel fit and bring his body in good condition, even if it was only for this special day. We were all surprised when he passed this difficult test of fate with bravour.

Though the wedding ceremony started a little late due to the delayed arrival of the bridal car to fetch the bride, still the whole church ceremony flowed smoothly. My sister sung the entire wedding songs, as requested by the couple. After the church rites, we proceeded to the garden reception in one of the famous resorts in our town. The decorations, food, program and sitting arrangements were perfectly organized. That was a very classy, elegant and lively wedding reception, with all the traditional rites that belongs to it, plus a modern inclusion of live music to entertain the guests and a wide screen for actual viewing of the whole ceremony. I could not stop my tears from falling when my li’l brother expressed his gratitudes to the people who helped him make his wedding a beautiful event to remember all his life, especially to my dad who kept his promise to accompany him to his wedding. How tough he was to be with the whole ceremony from the start up to the end.

This wedding of my li’l brother costed me a treasure. But i dont mind it at all and would still do the same if necessary. Sure, we were all in stress during the preparation, most especially the couple and me. But the outcome was good. And that’s what matters most. Unfortunately, the after effect of the entire tiry event strikes me and my li’l brother today, a day after the wedding…..we were both knocked down by flu with everything that belongs to it like severe throat sore, cough and colds! Bed rest for us…or should i say, bed ridden…!!!

VACATION…finally!!!

It has been long ago since i finally find time to update this site. I was very busy the last few months, trying to earn all the euros i can in 24 hours. Yeah, i was working 14-16 hours everyday. Whew, i was really killing myself i know. But with all the medicines my dad needs for his survival, if i can work 25hrs, i’ll do it! People who doesnt have any experience in nursing a cancer parent might not understand what im going through. We have exploited almost all of the corners of the internet sites for hoping to find some other possible remedies for him. But somehow, we have to accept the fact that just a miracle can heal my dad.

Im in the Philippines right now, spending the holiday seasons with my family, hoping and praying that this great family that i have, will remain complete and intact in several more years to come. A combination of joy and fear, this vacation is also a means of a most needed rest that i need. You see, i just arrived here yesterday and i already find time to write again. Ok, chatting took some of my time too, but i dont need to think and exert effort when im chatting with someone. Its my way to unwind and relax after a hard days work. Posting an article in this blog needs some kind of a relaxed mind and a little concentration.

For the first time in so many months, i was able to sleep the whole day today! Yeah, that was luxury for me! If my brother didnt wake me at 4pm (i slept from 2am till 4pm the following day) to ask if i want to go shopping, maybe im still in bed till the following day. How my body craves for this rest. Anyway, who could have said no to shopping? Actually, i really need to go to SM because i left all my toilet articles in Germany (just an added weight to my already almost over-weight luggage). So with my eyes still swollen from too much sleep, we went to SM Fairview. The mall was full of christmas shoppers! Who will say that the filipinos are poor? Gosh, one really needs to wait for at least 30 minutes to be able to pay one shampoo, conditioner, body powder, deodorant, soap, facial scrub, toilet papers etc. The people here have money!! Then i thought of buying my mom a big christmas tree coz her old one is small, and already deteriorating. Luckily, hardware store there is not too full that i at once found the tree that i want and the decors too that we need for it. After we have stucked the groceries and christmas tree in the car, we went back to the mall again to eat. Fortunately, the time isnt up yet for the merienda eat- all- u- can in Barrio Fiesta. I love eating merienda there coz they have almost all of my favorites, starting from lumpiang sariwa to dinuguan. Oh how i missed those native delicacies, devouring the food with gusto to the last bite. Yummy!!!

This vacation started quite good, which could only mean that the entire 5 weeks must also be a big enjoyment for me. Oh God, finally, i dont need to think about going to work everyday, even if it’s just for 5 weeks. Finally, im here to relax, unwind and enjoy!!! Yessssssssss!!!
